Who This Is For

This buckled wheel repair service is for you if:

It’s also a strong fit for trade customers who need safe, consistent repairs with clear communication.

What Happens to Your Wheels?

Professional Buckled Alloy Wheel Repair Process

A buckled alloy wheel needs to be properly checked before we attempt to straighten it.

We assess the amount of distortion and check for other damage before using controlled heat and specialist hydraulic equipment to gradually restore the wheel’s shape.

01

Initial Inspection & Safety Checks

We start by checking how and where the wheel is buckled.

We check for up-and-down and side-to-side movement, as well as cracks, air leaks and signs of previous repairs.

If the wheel is severely damaged or distorted, we’ll let you know if we don’t consider it suitable for repair.

02

Tyre Preparation

The tyre, valve and tyre pressure sensor are removed so we can properly inspect and work on the wheel.

We identify the exact area that has been distorted and clean the area ready for the straightening process.

If the wheel is also being fully refurbished, the existing finish can be removed as part of that work.

03

Controlled Heating

The damaged section of the wheel is carefully heated before straightening.

This prepares the aluminium so it can be gradually reshaped and helps reduce the risk of cracking during the process.

04

Hydraulic Straightening (The Key Stage)

The wheel is mounted onto specialist wheel straightening equipment.

Controlled hydraulic pressure is gradually applied to the damaged area to bring the wheel back into shape.

We work in small stages and repeatedly check the wheel as we go rather than trying to straighten it all at once.

05

Final Runout & Structural Check

Once straightening is complete, we check the wheel again to make sure it is running correctly.

We check both the up-and-down and side-to-side alignment, as well as checking that the wheel can hold air correctly.

06

Refit Tyre & Balance Wheel

You get a wheel that has been professionally assessed, gradually straightened using specialist equipment and checked again after the repair.

Not every buckled wheel can or should be repaired. If the damage is too severe, we’ll let you know rather than carrying out a repair we don’t consider suitable.

When Is a Wheel NOT Repairable?

Safety always overrides cost.

buckled wheel repair disclaimer

Alloy wheel straightening involves applying hydraulic pressure and heat to reshape a wheel that has already been structurally damaged. While every care is taken during the repair process, alloy wheels that are buckled may contain hidden stress fractures or weakened metal.

During straightening, cracks may become visible or may occur due to the existing damage and metal fatigue. If this happens, additional repairs such as welding may be required at an additional cost. In some cases, the wheel may be deemed unsafe or beyond repair.

By authorising this repair, you acknowledge that the wheel was previously damaged and accept that DCA Wheel Refurbishment Ltd cannot be held liable for cracks, structural failure, air leaks, or any further issues arising from the original damage or the straightening process.

Excellent service and communication throughout. Brian is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional, absolute top bloke. My BMW wheels were all curbed so needed a good refurb in factory BMW orbit grey. Brian has every factory colour going so finding a match was easy. He carried out a professional refurb on the wheels which takes 2 full days to complete, not the quick same day or 24hr turnaround offered by other wheel refurbers in Tamworth. The car was also safely secured during the few days he had it. Really happy with the wheels, they look like they’ve just come out the BMW factory. I’ve used a few wheel refurbishment companies in Tamworth over the years but these are definitely the best, I won’t use anyone else in future. Thanks Brian 👍🏼

Absolutely over the moon with the refurb Bryan at DCA did on my OEM 437M wheels. From start to finish the service was spot on. Very friendly guy, excellent workmanship, great comms throughout and you can tell he genuinely cares about the quality of his work. I went for the ferric grey and diamond cut finish and the wheels have come out looking absolutely stunning — better than I expected. The finish is clean, consistent and OEM+ quality. Bryan also took the time to explain the process properly and kept me updated throughout, which gave me a lot of confidence after previous bad experiences elsewhere. Turnaround was quick, attention to detail was excellent and the overall experience was professional from start to finish. Highly recommend DCA if you want your wheels done properly by someone who takes pride in their work.

I couldn’t be happier with the transformation that Bryan has achieved with my Audi A7 wheels. They were 11 years old, curb rashed, paint peeling and generally looking very sad. Now they’re absolutely mint plus the colour transition from standard grey to satin black makes them pop - just gotta get some new black centre caps to match now. I’m really happy with them, massive thanks to DCA Refinishing Ltd for a grand job 👍👍

FAQs

How do I know if my wheel is buckled?

Common signs include steering vibration at speed, a wobble you can see when the wheel spins, or a problem that starts after hitting a pothole or kerb.

No. Some wheels are too distorted or have damage in areas that make repair unsafe. We’ll inspect and advise honestly.

We use controlled heat and gradual correction to reduce risk. But the wheel is already damaged, which is why inspection and suitability checks matter.

Sometimes cracks only show once the wheel is being corrected. If a crack is repairable, we’ll explain the options and any extra cost. If it’s not safe, we’ll tell you.

We can, if needed. Powder coating or diamond cutting may follow depending on the wheel type and finish required.
