This alloy wheel welding service is for you if:
It’s also a strong fit for trade customers who need safe repairs and clear communication.
Not every cracked wheel should be welded. The crack location, depth, and signs of metal fatigue matter.

If it’s not safe, we’ll tell you.
We’re known for quality workmanship, clean presentation, and managing expectations so you know exactly what’s happening to your wheels.
How the service works:
We inspect the crack location (barrel, lip, spoke), length and depth, and look for fatigue or previous repairs. If needed, we can use crack detection methods to reveal hidden fractures.
Tyre, valve, and sensors are removed as needed. The area around the crack is stripped back to clean bare aluminium so contamination doesn’t ruin the weld.
The crack is ground into a V-groove so the weld bonds through the crack properly, not just on the surface.
The wheel is heated to a controlled temperature to reduce thermal shock and improve weld quality.
We TIG weld using the correct filler for the wheel alloy, building material slightly proud so it can be shaped back accurately. TIG gives better control for aluminium wheel repairs than quick, rough methods.
The wheel is allowed to cool naturally. Rapid cooling can make aluminium brittle.
The weld is dressed back smoothly. We re-check runout and advise if straightening is required.
The wheel is tested to confirm it holds air properly and the repair is sealed.
If the cosmetic finish has been affected, we can refinish the wheel with powder coating, diamond cutting, or refurbishment depending on the wheel type.

DCA Refinishing is solely owner-run, with a safety-first approach and clear communication.
No. Some cracks are too high risk, especially spoke cracks or cracks near the hub. We inspect first and only weld wheels that are suitable.
Welding repairs a damaged wheel. It restores integrity in the repaired area, but it won’t be the same as an undamaged wheel. That’s why suitability and testing matter.
Yes. We test the wheel to confirm the repair holds air properly before it leaves the workshop.
Yes. If the finish is affected, we can refurbish or refinish the wheel depending on the wheel type and the finish you want.
Sometimes additional cracks are found during inspection or prep. If that happens, we’ll talk you through options before any extra work.
