Who This Is For

We also work with trade customers who need reliable wheel repairs and clear communication.

What Happens to Your Wheels?

Professional Buckled Alloy Wheel Repair Process

A buckled alloy wheel needs to be properly checked before we attempt to straighten it.

We assess the amount of distortion and check for other damage before using controlled heat and specialist hydraulic equipment to gradually restore the wheel’s shape.

01

We Inspect the Wheel

We start by checking how and where the wheel is buckled.

We check the wheel for up-and-down and side-to-side movement, as well as looking for cracks and other signs of damage.

If we don’t consider the wheel suitable for straightening, we’ll let you know before carrying out the repair.

02

We Remove the Tyre

The tyre is removed so we can properly inspect and work on the wheel.

We identify the area that has been distorted and prepare the wheel for the straightening process.

03

We Load the Wheel onto the Straightening Equipment

The wheel is mounted securely onto our specialist wheel straightening equipment.

This allows us to identify the distorted area and carefully work on the wheel while checking its shape throughout the repair.

04

We Carefully Heat the Wheel

The damaged section of the wheel is carefully heated before straightening.

This prepares the aluminium so it can be gradually reshaped and helps reduce the risk of cracking during the process.

05

We Straighten the Wheel

Controlled hydraulic pressure is gradually applied to the damaged area to bring the wheel back into shape.

We work in small stages and repeatedly check the wheel as we go rather than trying to straighten it all at once.

06

We Refit and Balance the Wheel

Once the straightening is complete, we check the wheel again before refitting the tyre and balancing the wheel.

The finished wheel is checked to make sure it is running correctly after the repair.

07

The Result

You get a wheel that has been professionally inspected, gradually straightened using specialist equipment and checked again after the repair.

Not every buckled wheel can or should be repaired. If we don’t consider the wheel suitable for repair, we’ll let you know rather than carrying out work we aren’t comfortable with.

When Might a Wheel Not Be Repairable?

Some wheels may be too badly damaged to straighten safely. This can include:

Every wheel is assessed individually. If we don’t consider yours suitable for repair, we’ll tell you before proceeding.

Important Information About Buckled Wheel Repair

A buckled wheel has already suffered an impact or other damage before it reaches us. Straightening involves carefully applying heat and hydraulic pressure to reshape the wheel.

In some cases, existing damage or metal fatigue may become more apparent during the straightening process, including cracks that weren’t visible beforehand. If we discover additional damage, we’ll explain what we’ve found and discuss the available options with you.

Excellent service and communication throughout. Brian is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional, absolute top bloke. My BMW wheels were all curbed so needed a good refurb in factory BMW orbit grey. Brian has every factory colour going so finding a match was easy. He carried out a professional refurb on the wheels which takes 2 full days to complete, not the quick same day or 24hr turnaround offered by other wheel refurbers in Tamworth. The car was also safely secured during the few days he had it. Really happy with the wheels, they look like they’ve just come out the BMW factory. I’ve used a few wheel refurbishment companies in Tamworth over the years but these are definitely the best, I won’t use anyone else in future. Thanks Brian 👍🏼

Absolutely over the moon with the refurb Bryan at DCA did on my OEM 437M wheels. From start to finish the service was spot on. Very friendly guy, excellent workmanship, great comms throughout and you can tell he genuinely cares about the quality of his work. I went for the ferric grey and diamond cut finish and the wheels have come out looking absolutely stunning — better than I expected. The finish is clean, consistent and OEM+ quality. Bryan also took the time to explain the process properly and kept me updated throughout, which gave me a lot of confidence after previous bad experiences elsewhere. Turnaround was quick, attention to detail was excellent and the overall experience was professional from start to finish. Highly recommend DCA if you want your wheels done properly by someone who takes pride in their work.

I couldn’t be happier with the transformation that Bryan has achieved with my Audi A7 wheels. They were 11 years old, curb rashed, paint peeling and generally looking very sad. Now they’re absolutely mint plus the colour transition from standard grey to satin black makes them pop - just gotta get some new black centre caps to match now. I’m really happy with them, massive thanks to DCA Refinishing Ltd for a grand job 👍👍

FAQs

How do I know if my wheel is buckled?

Common signs can include vibration while driving, a visible wobble when the wheel rotates or problems that start after hitting a pothole or kerb. These symptoms can have other causes too, so we’ll inspect the wheel to confirm whether it’s buckled.

No. Whether a wheel can be straightened depends on the location and severity of the damage and the overall condition of the wheel. We’ll inspect it first and let you know if we don’t consider it suitable for repair.

A buckled wheel has already been damaged before the repair begins. Our straightening process uses controlled heat and gradual hydraulic pressure to reshape the wheel carefully. We’ll assess the condition of the wheel first and won’t proceed if we don’t consider it suitable for repair.

If a crack or other additional damage becomes apparent during inspection or straightening, we’ll let you know before carrying out any additional repair. Cracked wheel repair is a separate service and may involve an additional cost.

Yes, if you’d also like the cosmetic finish restored, we can discuss the appropriate refurbishment service with you. Wheel refurbishment is separate from the buckled wheel repair itself, so we’ll explain the options and any additional cost when quoting.
